Beavertail Lighthouse's lantern as it appeared in 1817. The glasses in the lantern vary in size, but are mostly 12 inch by 12 inch. There may have been a problem with the first lantern installed on the lighthouse in 1754. In 1761 Peter Harrison, the lighthouse designer, was on the committee that sent Josiah Arnold to Boston to get a model of the lantern of Boston Lighthouse.
